In 1864, British zoologist Mr.Philip Sclater had given explanation on Lemurian theory based on the lemurs available on 3 disconnected land - Madagascar, India & Australia which have same type of Origins / DNA of lemurs. Also medieval writer-ups of Tamil language like Purananuru and Kaliththikai - give reference to the loss of Pandyan territories to the sea and the Pandyan kings compensated the loss of their land by seizing land from the neighboring kingdoms like Cheras and Cholas. Some of the Tamil books like Tolkappiyam, ilampuranar, perasiriyar gives reference to loss of land at the south part of Kanyakumari city.
As per Mythology, "Kumari Kandam" is mentioned in Tamil version of Skanda Purana during explanation on Cosmic Model of the Universe. Skanda Purana stated that : "Paratan - who is the ruler of whole Kingdom on earth had eight son and one daughter. He divided his kingdom in 9 parts and the part ruled by his daughter named "Kumari" is called as "Kumari Kandam". It was known as the place where Brahmins resides and lord Shiva is worshiped.
Also one set of Tamil & Sanskrit scriptures describes, "Kumari Kandam" is the land ruled by Godness Kanya kumari (कन्या कुमारी) who was believed to be avatar of Devi Parvati. As per Hinduism, Wife of the Lord Shiva - Devi Parvati took birth as "Kanya Kumari" to kill asura Banasur (बाणासुर) who can only be killed by adolescent young girl.
Many Tamil social reformers give emphasis that the Kanyakumari temple was originally established by people who survived the flood which submerged "Kumari Kandam" continent.
Mr. Frank Josef, Secretary for Ancient American Association written in his book 'The Lost Civilization of Lemuria' that people move from Kumari Kandam to Africa is called "Sumerians", those who moved to Bengal called "Cholas" and those who moved to Sindh are called "Cheras". People who moved from Kumari Kandam to Africa and Africa to Arabia later called "Jews".
